Janice Shainy D’Souza is known for being selected in July 2010 for a full scholarship worth US$ 100,000 to pursue a four year under-graduate course at Berea College, Kentucky, USA. Among 1000 students who applied for the scholarship, she was one of the 30 international students who got selected.[1]

Janice was born to Margaret D'Souza and Vincent D'souza. She was a topper in academics throughout her school education, and completed her pre-university studies at St. Aloysius College. She scored the highest marks in Psychology in the pre-university board exams. While attending Roshni Nilaya, she had participated in many inter-collegiate competitions like quiz, vocabulary events, human resource events and had bagged several prizes. She was the vice-president of Public Relations in Mangalore, and was also involved in various charity works like teaching English to under-privileged children on weekends. Among 1000 students who applied for the scholarship for under-graduate studies, she was one of the 30 international students who got selected. She opted for International Relations and Psychology as her subjects in undergraduate level. She is also volunteering for a NGO called "Make a Difference" (MAD), and plans of appearing for civil service examinations upon returning back to India.[1]
